AssalamuAlaikum today I prayed jummah at the East London Mosque and Shaykh Abdul Qayyum’s khutba was based around Satan and his challenge to the children of Adam, that he will try and lead us astray. Allah azz wa Jal has said in many verses in the Quran that Satan is an open enemy for us and that we should never take him as our friend.

So by deceit he [Satan] brought about their fall. And when they both had tasted of the tree, their nakedness became apparent to them and they began to cover themselves with leaves from the Garden. Their Lord called out to them, "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you both that Satan is your open enemy? (Al-A`raf 7:22)

EygptAs the plane starts its decent into Cairo, the first thing you notice about Cairo is how densely populated it is. Building after building compact with the people walking around and the cars driving like there’s no tomorrow. They break at the last minute and as a driver from London I was shocked at the level of danger these guys ignore as the Cab driver took us to down town Cairo. One of the other things that you will notice about Egypt is its sheer beauty; truly Allah SWT has blessed this land with some of the most breath taking sites. You have the pyramids in Giza, the mountains in Sinai and the coastal resort of Dahab.

Connecting with the Qur'aan

Ukth Na'eemah

Are you one of those people who rarely touch the Qur'aan? Or do you read daily, but don't find it is having the impact on you that it should? Whatever the case may be, these are some simple tips that can help you connect with the Book of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى

1. Before you touch it, check your heart. The key to really benefiting from the Qur'aan is to check your heart first, before you even touch Allaah's Book view your intention and approach. Ask yourself, honestly, why you are reading it? Is it to just get some information and to let it drift away from you later? Remember that the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was described by his wife as a "walking Qur'aan": in other words, he didn't just read and recite the Qur'aan, he lived it.

Stuck in Traffic? -- Remember Allah… and Think

[Sheikh Salman al-Oadah]

All too often, we find ourselves waiting for ages at the doctor's office, or in traffic jams, or for that business meeting to start. We spend most of that time stewing in our frustration, complaining about our dwindling reserves of patience, and accusing everyone else of being inconsiderate, incompetent, or both.

We fail to see how valuable that time is in our busy lives. We always hear the advice that we should remember Allah more often, especially in our idle time, but what good advice it is. Remembering Allah is what enlivens our hearts and souls, brings us peace of mind, and elevates our status with Allah. It cleanses us of our sins -- and it makes our Lord pleased with us.
