Listen to the Podcast * (6.15m) Starts. Br Azad and Br Kalam in studio. They are HAPPY! ![]() Introduction of topics: - Benefits and Virtues of being happy! ![]() - Obama becoming 44th President of America - Preparing for Hajj - Execution of Bali bombers - A little on Palestine – It’s severely flooded and under siege and a third ship is planning to go through to break the blockade. * (10.55m) EasyTalk Charity Dinner for Mali Children’s Village on 12th December! Brothers announce, explain and publicise the event. * (18.31m) Update on Br Abjol’s Daroon Road Run. * (21.50m) Discussion on President Obama. - Br Azad doesn’t share the enthusiasm on him being elected. It is a kind of breakthrough in this racist world but there isn’t really a difference between the Democrats and the Republicans when it comes to pushing anti-Islamic sentiments. - Using the ‘lesser of two evils’ argument for supporting one cannot be used because the foreign policy is identical. - But no, Obama said he’d withdraw troops from Iraq and close down Guantanemo and McCain has not claimed this. - But even Bush said he’d close down Guantanemo. They would have to close it down because of the courts. - Br Azad referring to the argument that Obama seems less gung ho about war than McCain and pointing out that he has more respect for those who declare their evil intentions openly rather than be hypocrites. - Br MAK arguing that Obama has declared his intended actions and thoughts openly. - Bringing it back to the point - To participate in a democratic system, the reasoning Muslims must follow is that we are voting for the lesser of two evils. If people have voted for Obama because they have decided that he’s the lesser of two evils, how was this decided? What was the criteria for making this decision? Because the criteria must be that there are substantial policy differences that will benefit Muslims.. but the foreign policy is the same. - Disagreement - that the criteria within the ‘lesser of two evils’ reasoning does not have to be related to Muslim-only issues. American Muslims have a right to vote for the party that will benefit them more when it comes to domestic issues, such as health and education. - Point - The issue is about the euphoria shown by Muslims around the world about Obama being elected. Some organisations issued press releases solely welcoming him. However Ahmedinijad welcomed him and gave him some much needed advice. People should be aware of Obama’s faulty policies and so not just welcome him point blank but seek to communicate how he should right wrongs. - Point on prioritising news. How many websites/places reported Obama becoming president and how reported the Gaza floods? * (36.40m) Br Mamun in the studio. All talking about being happy again! ![]() * (37.35m) Brothers singing ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ ( * (37.46m) Virtues and benefits of being happy! ![]() 1. It helps you to develop good social relationships 2. It makes you more intelligent and you are able to solve complex and difficult problems! 3. It makes you see the positive of everything in life! 4. It improves physical health as it lowers blood pressure and increases the immune system! ‘Fascinating FANTASTIC Scientific Facts.’ ![]() * (46.08m) Discussion – Brothers received a feedback email about the show. - Brothers tear the email apart point by point, in their oh so sarcastic, inimitable (you can pay me later for referring to you as this! ) way..(Lol I gotta admit, you shouldn’t miss this bit!) Here’s a sample.. ..the show is not aimed at any particular gender, it’s for everybody.. and not necessarily for Muslims either.. And we have MI5 listening to us All the time They have to listen to us, they get paid for it. How lucky are they?! Not only do they get the honour of listening to us, they get paid for it as well Subhanallah man! You know what, they sometimes follow us to Spice Hut.. Coz I see that car, ‘look. right, switch your lights off if you’re gonna be watching us from across the road boys, man.’ Tell em, you should tell em. What’s the other complaint? ..The other bit is that we don’t have any professional people in our shows, I mean, lets just get this clear. Myself and Kalam, we ARE the experts We. Are. Experts. There is no subject that anyone in the world can speak on, better than us. Absolutely. We are the professionals. We are the professionals. I second that So don’t even go there ![]() * (54.15m) Discussion on Hajj and how Shaykh Abdul Qayyum gave a fantastic khutbah on Friday re: preparing for Hajj. Points on Hajj. 1. To remind one of Tawhid. The main purpose of hajj is to remind people of the oneness of Allah and that everything comes from Allah. 2. One of the best ways of preparing for hajj is to gain taqwa - awareness of Allah and fear of Allah. People should not be getting angry nor distracted during their hajj. 3. Unity of believers. All Muslims are united and together for the sake of Allah. Muslims should try to bring this feeling and attitude of unity back home with them after hajj. * (58m) Call – Br Talha. - Back on Obama discussion. Br MAK makes point that if there’s not much of a difference between McCain and Obama, that means that there is a slight difference.. and that slight difference is the lesser of two evils. * (1hr 1.55m) Back on Hajj 4. Representation of equality between human beings. Everyone wears the white ihram no matter what their wealth or background. - These are lessons not just for the hujjaj but for all of us, and we should try to implement them in our everyday lives. *(1hr 7.40m) Daroon Chart – Number Three! * (1hr 12m) Discussion on Mali bombings – Was it right to execute the people convicted for the crime? Under Shariah law, execution is one form of punishment but if the families wish, they could opt for blood money as punishment. Many of the family members wrote to the Supreme Court asking that they don’t execute the guys but their pleas were ignored. Point – If following Shariah, follow it properly so that there is justice. Point – Where was the outcry from the West in this particular case, about how barbaric and inhumane a punishment it is, to behead people? * (1hr 12.30m) Discussion on Muslims who want to practise Islam. How to deal with ignorant attitudes and snide comments from family and community members. Suggestions – Getting parents onside and explaining to others that we are accountable for our actions now and do not want to sin. * (1hr 25m) Br Azad bringing up point that we must remain people of balance. -The being purer than pure school of thought isn’t right – our beloved Prophet (saw) used to promote that people have good opinion of an alcoholic who would commit a crime and then come to him to seek his punishment. -And on the other side of the scale, the secular school of thought where everything goes is not right either. * (1hr 30.30m) Br MAK makes point that one should not over praise. We must love and hate in moderation. So Obama may be a really charismatic speaker but one should not over praise his abilities. *(1hr 32.20m) Daroon Chart – Number Two! * (1hr 37.40m) Darooon nasheed played! (Get it on the charts peeps!) *(1hr 43.10m) Daroon Chart – NUMBER ONE!!! (Brilliance of Zamilooni slightly tarnished towards the end when Azad Bhai felt the need to read something out . Could someone keep the mic AWAY from him next time?)* (1hr 50m) Publicising the monthly gathering that’s happening on Sunday (16th). * (1hr 53.30m) Round Up! Be Happy!!!
