* (6.15m) Starts. Only Brs Azad and Talha in the studio. Br MAK is stranded somewhere out there, in dark cold London.. beside his punctured wheel car.. waiting for the AA service to do their magic.. Coz he too undaroon to fix it himself!
Intro of topics:
- Mumbai tragedy
- Ian Blairs comment re: whether politicians should be electing police commissioners
- Tory MP being arrested for leaking private information to the public
* (18.25m) Tory MP arrested.
There’s argument that it’s freedom of speech and by revealing information he hasn’t done anything wrong so why was he arrested?
The counter argument is that certain information should be kept private and not revealed to the public so that the civil service have a chance to discuss things within themselves.
- The situation is not being handled very well by Scotland Yard thus there’s more pressure on Paul Stevenson - Current Head of Met. police.
* Point – There needs to be a policy of whistleblowing and it should happen if something unethical is going on. There should always be checks and balances.
* (21.30m) Br MAK makes it to the studio
* (23m) Eid is on MONDAY 8th. And on Tues and Wed!
And on FRIDAY 12th, please do bring along your family to the ET charity dinner as an Eid celebration – No it's not bida to celebrate this after the three days have passed, it’s a bida hasanah!!
* (24.30m) Discussion on expansion plans for Mecca.
- Idea is to make it more accessible and spacious, space to pray indoors and not on roads.
- But will people who can only afford to reside in cheap hotels be able to afford it if there are only high star hotels available?
- Overall though, it’s not necessarily a bad thing to move on, progress and make the place comfortable according to the times.
- Yes but since it’s Mecca, people should be extra careful about what is developed and how.
* (27.40m) FIGHT FIGHT between Br MAK and Br Talha
Then Br Azad and Br MAK decide to pick on BR Mamun in his absence!
* (33.30m) Br Azad reads out joke on female/male brains.
Br MAK decides to bravely state that women must use their brains uselessly.
(Bruv needs to watch it. Does he want his wheels being punctured AGAIN? Does he really believe that his wheels got punctured NATURALLY, without any human HELP? Don't be getting too rude now..
)
* (36.07m) Update on the man who ripped off people’s hajj money. Apparently he’s been caught.
* (37.10m) Is Michael Jackson a Muslim? Could be true Alhamdulillah.
‘Well, he’s been bad and his life’s been a thriller so maybe he’s not alone anymore..
You are not aloneeeee
I am here with you..
* (38.15m) Discussion - Is parliament useless?
- It has its uses but some of the legislation brought in should be better reviewed
- Point that it depends on expectations. Everything can be deemed irrelevant or useless if you’re expecting from it something that it wasn’t designed to do. Parliament is not the main base of power, it jus approves legislation. Power lies with the media, with lobbying, with contacts, etc.
The Civil Service is one of the most powerful institutions, more powerful than politicians. The police are also more powerful. Hence the Met Commissioner should not be appointed by politicians as there is less chance of independent actions and not too much of a checks and balance in place.
- Wheel/Cogs analogy. It’s one wheel and all cogs go in the same direction but if some cogs work independently then this is fine.. because it’s the checks and balance.
* (46.20m) Discussion - Mumbai tragedy.
On Wednesday, militants came into Mumbai and seized a few hotels and Jewish centres. They kept people hostage and killed many. The death toll at last count is 195. One militant is now in custody.
First and foremost point - Indiscriminate killing of people, it should be condemned and the criminals brought to justice.
Points - They were desperately trying to create a link to Britain
- But the foreign office denied any links to Britain
- They always bring up al Qaida. Osama Bin Laden seems to have become the most powerful man ever. Nothing bad seems to happen in the world without him directing it.. and all from within the confines of a cave (without internet) too.
- Fear that Muslim minorities in India may face a lot of backlash from this and Hindu Extremists will milk it.
- Calling it India’s 9/11. Just so funny how they always try to bring it back to America and the West. This is the EAST. Oh but apparently India is an example of democracy and in bed with the West so it’s seen as part of the west.
- No doubt more pressure will be piled onto the Pakistani government.
- Media are stirring up hysteria. Small minority do not represent a whole faith.
- Conspiracy theory - There was a report in the Independent a week before the Mumbai tragedy stating that the culprits behind certain bombings in an Indian area were not in fact Muslim militants (as had been accused), but Hindu extremists.
Maybe the media are trying to cover up and eliminate that news with the focus on this news largely on ‘Muslims’ killing people in Mumbai.
- Point that America’s power is waning and there will be more power in India and China. There is huge pressure on Pakistan to forget their problems with India and focus on tackling terrorism.
*(1hr 0.30m) Daroon Chart – Number Three!
* (1hr 4.12m) Malaysia calling for Yoga to be banned as calling upon the Buddha is shirk.
* (1hr 4.30) Kashmir and liberating Kashmir.
- Kashmir is a valley that seperates India and Pakistan
- Very rich in natural resources and a beautiful area
- Kashmir was an independent state that was ruled by a Maharaja
- But in the 1947 war of independence between India and Pakistan, India took it over and India/Pakistan fought over it.
- Currently, Kashmir is divided by a line of control with the India controlled Kashmir on one side and the Pak controlled Kashmir on the other.
- UN resolutions state that people have the right to decide whether they want to be with Pakistan or India or be independent
- However Indians do not want to give people this right because there are more Muslims and more people would opt for an independent state.
- India and Pakistan have gone to war three times over Kashmir and wanting to liberate Kashmir. 1 million people died in the war in the 1960s.
- There is alot of oppression and killings happening there. Insha Allah there will come a time when people are free and able to live in security.

* (1hr 23.20m) Thailand’s airport was blocked. Unfortunate because quite a few Muslims couldn’t go to Hajj.
* (1hr 24m) Interpal / Lloyds TSB/ IBB discussion
- Lloyds replied back to the complaint emails, stating that they haven’t told the IBB what to do with their customers and that this would be wrong of them to do.
- However Interpal have published the letter that Lloyds sent the IBB. See below – they are clearly lying.
“..we do not wish you to transfer, receive, process or in any way deal with any funds, or in any way whatsoever… be involved with any type of banking arrangements for Interpal which either uses or involves any products or services provided by us.”
Therefore make sure to email them back!
