5th Shawwal 1429/4th October 2008 Bigger, better, more DAROONER! - In a nutshell!  Let it be known Easy Talk stick to their word!!  Did you mark the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr the Easy Talk way?! If not…where were you? Tut tut! What do I mean by the Easy Talk way??? Well did you attend THE event of 2008….filled with laughter, fun, food, inspiration, entertainment, nasheeds and did I mention FOOD!!    Back from last year…bigger…better…MORE DAROONER…yes it was the one and only ET EID GATHERING 2008  The 4th of October 2008 saw London Muslim Centre’s ground floor packed up with brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, akhis, ukhtis, children, toddlers, the old and the young to attend the best event of 2008; Easy Talk’s Eid Gathering. This year the theme focused on My Heroes in Islam. Invited speaker included Br Abdul Mumin Yahya (4 feet, 2 seats…ring any bells   ). He started off the topic with the women in Islam, an inspiration to all, brothers and sisters. This was followed by Sr Dalia whose message to the Muslims of today was to remind us all that our heroes are close by as well as from the past. Look for the hero’s right close to you, your mum? Your dad? They are an inspiration to us too and we should remember all the good that they have done for us. Those are some of her heroes, what about YOU  Inspiring talks followed munch time! Not much can be said there, when it comes to food ET become all quiet and minds only on one thing…THE EATING!!! With the stomach warmed up ( yes only warmed up, ET being unique, we give out food our way and that meant not all together!!  ) It was time for the DAROON entertainment and was it thashayaa or what? Mr Wong, Respect, Ding and Dong you better watch out there’s Mr Ahmed in town! Lol!  Laughter and jokes and food aside the eid gathering was also an event to raise awareness of the current situation in Mali the needy orphans of the third poorest country in the world and more importantly raise money to help build an orphanage for these children, thus giving them a better chance, a better future. (http://www.mali-village.com) ET fans are just totally daroon, the auctioning began and battle commenced. Would the brothers or the sisters be taking home the ULTIMATE DAROON TASHAYAA Goody Bag 2008 (woah now a mouthful it may be, but so worth the bidding!!). Well sisters have you ever let me down in the past? I think not! Alhamdulillah the brothers bid and the sisters soldiered on until finally the bag (I can’t even attempt to re-write the whole name again!) was sold for £1350 to a……SISTER! Takbir! Allahhu Akbar! However auctioning did not end there as brothers fought back and won the second auction item, another ET exclusive memorabilia kit! And we carried on further more with tables joining forces and rallying together to buy bricks for the buy a brick appeal to once again help build those funds for the Mali Children’s Village Insha’Allah. SubhanAllah brothers and sisters the unity in the room was electric! The oneness to help our fellow brothers and sisters in Mali was so clear! A big jazakallahu khair to all the contributions. It’s that love and dedication that got ET where it is today and Insha’Allah will help it grow even more! So keep it EASY TALK people!!  Remember the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him said):"Whoever treated an orphan with kindness, he will be as close to me in Heaven as these fingers are close to each other“(indicating to the index and middle fingers) With the food, jokes, laughter, entertainment, fundraising all done and with a sad sigh the gathering came to an end! (Now this is the hard part. people just don’t want to leave!! lol). HOWEVER be not forever dismayed, do NOT be saddened for long…ET doesn’t STOP...... we come back with MORE!! So look out for the DAROON, THASHAYAA, THUFAAN, BOMBASTIC events in the very near future and keep your diaries free because ET is once again moving another level up!!
